Grand Opening of the 20th International Tipitaka Chanting Ceremony (ITCC) at Buddhagaya
On December 2, 2025, at the sacred sanctuary of Buddhagaya, India, the 20th International Tipitaka Chanting Ceremony (ITCC) solemnly and purely commenced its grand opening, taking place from December 2 to December 13, 2025.
Organization and the Presence of International Monastics and Devotees
This year, India proudly assumed the role of Chief Organizer through the ITCC India organizing committee. The ceremony was graced by Most Venerable Maha Sanghasena—Head of the Maha Bodhi Society in Ladakh—who served as the Chairperson of this year’s grand event.
On the opening day of December 2, 2025, more than 17,000 monastics (bhikkhus and bhikkhunis) and devoted lay Buddhists from 15 countries worldwide gathered to solemnly participate in the procession of the Pali Tipitaka sacred scriptures with boundless joy.
The Imprint and Contribution of the Vietnamese Delegation
Representing the Vietnamese delegation attending this year’s ceremony was Most Venerable Thích Bửu Chánh—Member of the Secretariat of the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha—serving as the Head of the Delegation, accompanied by more than 500 Buddhist devotees from both home and abroad.
Notably, ITCC Vietnam this year respectfully offered over 10,000 chanting verses to serve the monastics and all participating pilgrims throughout the 12 days of the grand ceremony.
The journey of pilgrimage and chanting of the sacred scriptures concludes in profound gratitude, turning our hearts back to the source of the True Dharma with a pure aspiration and prayer:
May all devas and human beings rejoice in the merits we have attained today.
